Mavic Pro vs. Mavic 2 Pro
A few weeks ago DJI released their new model Mavic 2 Pro. So far Mavic is one of the best selling drones on the market. And that is not a surprise because Mavic has everything one drone pilot needs. But the DJI went a few steps ahead and made the DJI Mavic Pro a perfect drone for various usage.
Because of the good reputation and well-built brand that lays under a Mavic name it was just a matter of time when they will release an upgraded version of Mavic.
Difference between Old Mavic Pro and Mavic 2 Pro
Like you are probably guessing, a new drone will cost several hundred dollars more than the old version of Mavic Pro.
But for that money, you will get extra performance, better camera and lots of additional features.
Flight Time
Flight time on Mavic Pro is 27 minutes which is more than enough for whatever you are doing in the air, but the new upgraded version of Mavic is capable of staying in the air for 31 minutes.
Speed
Both Mavic drones are fast, but with a new model, DJI just needed to make Mavic 2 much faster. Old Mavic does 40mph while the new one is doing 45mph. It is not a huge difference but still if you are racing, with the new model you will come faster to the finish line.
Transmission Distance
Mavic is well known for its large transmission distance that goes all the way to 7km, while the new one does 8km. With such a high range drone you can without a problem film a whole area around your house without even leaving your property. Because of such a large range and fast speed DJI Mavic has all the safety measures installed including obstacle avoidance feature. These safety features will make sure nothing bad happens to your drone while you are navigating the high sky.
Better Camera
Image resolution on the new model is 20 megapixels while the old one is using a 12 megapixels camera. Now you can make full 4K HD videos in 10 bits. That means that the videos will be even more detailed when you watch them on the big screen. The new camera also has a huge color range that will give pictures and videos less distortion, more vivid colors and overall high-quality pictures and videos.
Because of such enhanced camera, Mavic 2 Pro will be used by professional and semi-professional drone video recording enthusiasts. But that high-quality performance at making videos and taking pictures should not turn you away from this drone if you are not a professional user. In fact, if you can afford the drone, you should buy it and enjoy all the powers of the magnificent new camera in DJI Mavic Pro 2.
Mavic 2 comes in two versions, as Pro, and as Zoom version. Zoom version just like the name says has a unique optical zoom lens which can zoom 2x into any objects. Now 2x zoom does not sound like some great performance since we know that some cameras used in video recordings can do 40x zoom or even more. But the 2x zoom while in the air will make a huge difference to your videos. You will get a new way of filming, and by getting a whole new angle, your videos will be more unique.
Mavic 2 Zoom also has a Dolly Zoom feature. This feature is often used in making drone videos, and it is actually a simple visual effect which is done easily and in more detail when using a Dolly Zoom on Mavic 2 Zoom.
Final Verdict
DJI Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom are more advanced versions of the old DJI Mavic Pro, but the question is if the owners of DJI Mavic Pro should check buybestquadcopter to upgrade and buy a whole new drone. And the answer is not that clear, anyone who can afford a new more advanced drone should follow a trend and use the latest technology available on the market. That is the only way to keep up with the business.
To all new buyers, I can only recommend to get a new DJI Mavic 2 drone and spend a couple of hundred dollars more. For that extra money, they will be getting lots of new features and clearly higher flying performance.
